The Tory Lanez Case: From Hollywood Hills to Prison Walls

The saga involving Tory Lanez, Megan Thee Stallion, and Kelsey Harris has captured public attention since 2020. From a high-profile shooting to courtroom drama and recent prison developments, here’s a full breakdown of the story so far.

The Incident: A Night That Changed Everything

On July 12, 2020, after leaving a party at Kylie Jenner’s house in the Hollywood Hills, an argument broke out between Tory Lanez (real name Daystar Peterson), Megan Thee Stallion (Megan Pete), and her friend Kelsey Harris. Things escalated, and Megan was shot in the foot. She later identified Tory as the shooter, claiming he yelled “dance!” before pulling the trigger.

In December 2022, the trial began. Megan took the stand and spoke emotionally about how the shooting affected her life and career. She said, “Since I was viciously shot by the defendant, I have not experienced a single day of peace.”

Kelsey Harris was a key witness, but her testimony was shaky. Although she had immunity, she frequently said, “I honestly don’t remember,” which frustrated prosecutors and stirred confusion about her role that night.

Tory Lanez was found guilty on three felony charges:

  • Assault with a semiautomatic firearm

  • Carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle

  • Discharging a firearm with gross negligence

He was sentenced to 10 years in prison in August 2023.

Recent Developments: New Claims & A Violent Attack

In May 2025, Tory’s legal team revealed new evidence. A former bodyguard of Kelsey Harris claimed that Kelsey admitted to firing the shots at Megan. This new information has sparked major debate and raised questions about whether the wrong person may have been convicted.

Just days later, on May 12, 2025, Tory Lanez was stabbed 14 times in prison by another inmate, Santino Casio, a convicted murderer. Lanez suffered collapsed lungs and serious injuries but is now in stable condition and recovering.

Conclusion: The Story Isn’t Over

The Tory Lanez case is far from settled. With new evidence coming to light and ongoing discussions about justice, the public remains locked in. Whether this case takes a dramatic legal turn or not, it’s clear the ripple effects of that night in 2020 continue to be felt today.
